First blog post

It’s a long time coming, thinking, planning and considering but hey ho I’ve decided to just do it. I love writing and all of the paraphernalia that comes with it, pens, pretty notebooks and countless amounts of diaries however I have never stuck to it. So here goes at trying to keep putting my opinions down for any person that takes the time to read it. If that is you, I thank you.

So why ‘Proud Working Mum’? Well as you can imagine when you work with other women the conversations often fall into the guilt category. I however have never felt that way. I love my work, I love working and I love the feeling of giving my children strong role models. Sure there are times when I look at Facebook and see the photos of my friends during long holidays taking their kids out and about but I did that. I spent the first six years of my boys foundation years drawing, cooking, playing and doing the whole school mum thing. I loved that part of my life and I know it has given my children some confidence and grounding that we wanted to offer them. There is a time though that you need to take back your identity. I warrant my name to be put first not someone’s  Mum or someone’s  wife, I needed to take back a little control and no, I do not feel guilty about it.

I cook all of our food from scratch, well when the hubby doesn’t take over! I do have help in the house with cleaning but hey we can’t all be domestic goddesses and you need to prioritise what is important to you. I want my children to appreciate good wholesome food and learn the communication skills from sitting down to eat at every meal. So I will share my menu planning which is done once a week with complete military precision and feedback on the successes (a few!) and the disasters (many!) when I try to keep being creative in the kitchen. So if you are still reading and you may be interested in what I write about I would love to hear from you.

Thanks,

Kate
